Infinity : Terrain from Warsenal and how we will grade it....

Infinity Terrain from Warsenal

Comanche Black Eagle Landing Pad
    http://warsen.al/

Warsenal has some pretty impressive looking terrain. I started checking out the forums on the Infinity website and started looking into their product. I looked at the Comanche line of terrain and I am liking what I am seeing.

Spetznazs Tower

I really liked this piece and the price is just wonderful at $15. I went ahead and ordered one to check it out and it should be arriving on Thursday. I plan on doing an unboxing and hopefully a better review of their product once I have it in hand.
Pillbox Scout Tower

I saw that Miniwargaming did some reviews on a few terrain companies. I am a simple gamer without their resources and I sure as hell didn't get a bunch of free terrain to try out like they did. I am just planning on ordering a couple pieces from each company and going from there.

Comanche Barracks
This first piece will actually be the second line we have tried out. If you got a chance to check out the picture from our last game you can see a couple of Bandua's terrain pieces mixed in with the starter set pieces. The Bandua pieces need some paint before we review them but they were a lot of fun to use and easy to put together.
Comanche Square Towers
From now on we will use a grading system to help us rate the products. I think a ten point system should suffice for each category and then average it out.

Categories:

1. Price
2. Ease of Assembly
3. How Cool Does it Look

I think these categories will help us give a relevant grade to some of these terrain pieces.

Ok, getting back to this Comanche line from Warsenal..... wow, I think it looks great and one of the best options that Warsenal offers is some great package bundles at $100.
Comanche Walkway Bundle
Comanche Starter Pack

Both of those are $100 each and its a great start for a nice terrain package. Once I get the Spetsnazs tower I will give it a grade and see how rates. But I am looking forward to it.

Infinity : Quick Battle Report

Nomads vs. Ariadna
300 Points

Unfortunately we didn't get more pictures of the ensuring battle. We got stuck in and completely forgot to keep taking pictures. This will be a quick Battle Report and I will post our lists soon so those of you that want to look at them can. As the title says, we had the Nomads fighting Ariadna.

This was Brandon's first time using Nomads and he had the components of two starter sets and a few add on blisters to help boost his force. He had a good size force and for the most part I know the units he brought to the table. I brought my Ariadna and I decided to stay away from the sectorials because I just don't have enough USAriadna to field 300 points and I really love Tankhunters and Veteran Kazaks. We played 300 points and we both agreed on the mission with the four quarters being worth objective points. We grabbed our classified objectives and proceeded to see who would do what.
I was able to choose the deployment and Brandon took the turn order. We both did our setup and this was also our first time using TO Camo. Well, for me it was my first time fighting against it and for him it was the first time using it. Kind of sucked to be on the receiving end of a hidden deployment unit. I would find out later how much it sucks shooting at them.

Turn 1
So, the first turn was pretty eventful, and it started with me using a command token to remove two orders from his order pool. That was followed up by him discovering two of my camo markers, which were my Scout and one of my Tankhunters with Autocannon. He tried shooting up my Scout who had used infiltrated to be a little farther up with an Ojotnik. The Scout would survive all that was thrown at him. It was mainly Aguaciles that were shooting at him. My Veteran Kazak with AP HMG took out a Grenzer with Sniper Rifle but was shot up by an Intruder with a Sniper Rifle and wounded. Then he took another wound and was dead. My Line Kazak with AP HMG needed a critical of 5 to hurt his other Intruder with Sniper and he actually made that happen which made his Intruder go down unconscious. An Airborne unit either a Tomcat or Hellcat, not sure which is which, jumped into my backfield with and HMG but that same Line Kazak was able to ARO and make him unconscious. There was some moving about and reposition but for the most part that was it for him.

I did pretty well on his active turn so I was thinking about the mission and I had a Chasseur and the Scout controlling one quarter. I wanted to try to secure at least one more since at this point he had none because his units really hadn't moved out of the deployment zone. I also wanted to knock out some more of his units and I was still leery about that TO unit. I tried eliminating an Aguacile with my Scout but it reversed on me and the Scout ended up unconscious. With that in mind I decided on using a coordinated order to move some of my Line Kazaks and Grunts into better firing positions. The Line Kazak with AP HMG ended up taking out the Aguacile that wounded my Scout. I had a Tankhunter take down another Grenzer. He was down two more units and I made the error of dropping in Van Zant where I thought he was safe to control another table quarter. At this point he was safe but I would find out later that he was not alone.

Nomads: 0
Ariadna: 2

Turn 2

This was the bloody turn. His TO camo Spektr reveals that he is shooting up Van Zant and Van Zant takes a wound. I realize that he is dogged but the Spektr moved on to better things and he has no one to ARO after losing the Face to Face roll against the Spektr. So for the rest of his turn he is irrelevant. The Reverend Healer attempts to run out of cover to heal one of the wounded Intruders. But my Tankhunter gets her and kills her. The Spektr then goes on to move up the field with that -6 to hit modifier, knocking out my Tankhunter and my Line Kazak with AP HMG. He is controlling a table quarter directly in front of my deployment zone and he was very hard to shoot at and he didn't get hurt at all. At this point he has possibly two points and there is the chance now that it could be close. His Mobile Brigada claimed a quarter and that Spektr was in my face claiming another.

I misunderstood Dogged and removed Van Zant from play at the end of Brandon's active turn. It wouldn't be a huge factor but I know better for next time. I was able to kill the Spektr with a Grunt in cover and a rifle which was great. My Highlander Grey threw some smoke and moved up killing another Aguacile. His Mobile Brigada was forced to go prone and I ended up failing a medikit roll killing my Tankhunter. This was one of my classified objectives and I was hoping to revive the guy, but oh well. I had two more quarters at this point and he was running out of models.

Nomads: 1
Ariadna: 4

Turn 3

The last turn was pretty quick, his Mobile Brigada tried to do some work but was rewarded with wounding my Dogged HIghlander Grey and that was about it.

We decided to just see if the Highlander Grey would actually kill the Mobile Brigada because he was surviving quite a bit of firepower. He fell after two orders being spent. We called it at this point since there was no way that he could win. I still had two more quarters and could have spent more orders to occupy a third.

Nomads : 1
Ariadna : 6

After Action Report

We talked about the game and one thing was the limited models that my buddy had. He did not was to proxy for his first game and just decided to use what he had. He really enjoyed the Nomads and for his first game with them, he did really well considering their play style is completely different from his ALEPH. I was very surprised with how many shots his TO camo Spektyr just made irrelevant with the -6 to hit modifier. That combined with range or cover negative modifiers forced me to start dodging instead of being able to hurt him. We both had a really good time and since we are new we still have to look stuff up but it is getting a lot better. My Ariadna Tank Hunters and Line Kazak AP HMG did very well. We both agreed that holding back our Airborne troops for another turn would have been more beneficial for both of us.

Ariadna MVP: Line Kazak AP HMG

Nomads MVP: TO Spektr

Infinity : Reinforcements and a smal rumor.....

Here are the latest units from Corvus Belli for Infinity, and once again they impress. To my knowledge three of these had prior sculpts and these are some fresh new sculpts to add to your force. With the inclusion the Seraph it also got some new rules. I own a Van Zant model and I know there was a limited edition Gencon model available as well. The fact that Infinity does consistent releases for multiple factions every month is really a huge factor for me when I support this game. I actually had a long conversation today with a buddy of mine and we were just talking about how great Infinity is and how the switch from 40k has been one of the best gaming decisions we made. I am not trying to just write about negative aspects of 40k, especially since the Warhammer world really helped me get into gaming decades ago. I just think that Infinity really has a lot of positive attributes and looking at these new units and the consistency of quality and releases is just another plus for this game. Well have fun scrolling over the units and look for more articles on terrain and soon some Nomads articles.

I also picked up this small rumor over at Beasts of War from one of their comments:

Supposedly, November releases are:
- Domaru (box)
- Avicena
- Rodoks (box)
- Airborne Ranger
- Hassasin Ragik Hacker -

If that's the case I need to save some money for those Airborne Rangers, I mean I was a paratrooper for a decade.

From Corvus Belli:

Seraphs, Military Order Armored Cavalry

"Voluntas Dei" (God Willing). Motto of the Seraph Cavalry.
The Father-Officers of the different PanOceanic Military Orders (Hospitallers, Teutons, Knights of Santiago, of the Holy Sepulchre, Montesa...), have the job of leading the vanguard of faithful troops into the heart of battle. In the heat of combat, cut off from the call of God, the Father-Officers are capable of reaching the doors of hell itself.

They are reckless, they attack without fear of death because they know they are imbued with the power of Christ. Such religious fervor has led to such a high number of fallen among the officers of all of the Orders that it was decided to equip them with Remote Presence combat units. Currently the Seraphs are the most visible element of any attack force of any Military Order, always on the front line of battle discharging the fury of God through their own weapons systems or those of their accompanying Auxbots.

Roger Van Zant, Airborne Ranger Captain

“I lead. You follow.”
Van Zant, to Captain Pendleton of the 2nd Airborne Rangers during the Operation Death from the Clouds briefing. Ariadnan Commercial Conflicts.
Roger Van Zant is a big, bull-necked guy with a bristly goatee and a shaven head, a guy who likes beer and doughnuts. He’s a callous officer, the kind that was promoted from a runt by the sheer weight of his distinguished services. As a person, Van Zant is authoritarian, offensively honest, irritable and obstinate to a fault. His character inspires mixed feelings. He can display a charismatic personality when he wants to, but other officers have come to hate his guts after locking horns with him one time too many.

The soldiers loves him on a good day as much as they fear his fits of rage. That he is an intrepid, natural leader is not up for debate. Despite the fact that he always takes the riskiest, most decisive missions, he never wants for volunteers. In truth, he is your standard man of action of the Ariadnan frontier, and as a soldier he should be judged not by his geniality but by his record sheet. Van Zant has been injured countless times, and he has embedded each bullet and piece of shrapnel into the handle of his axe. In the purest Ariadnan officer style, he will often stand in the crossfire, screaming orders at the top of his lungs while lighting a smoke, not (only) because he is a show-off, but because that’s where he can get a better grip on the situation.

Special Deterrance Group Azra'il

The Azra’il are veteran elite troops who have fallen into disgrace. The Jamdariyah, the Sultan’s personal guard, is renewed with each Sultan. Every time a new one is elected by the people, his head of security disbands the previous Jamdariyah.
Some of the members stay on with the new Sultan, but those who are politically suspect cannot keep their old rank. However, they can’t be sent back to their former regiments either, because, having been part of the Sultan’s guard, who knows what they may have seen or heard? This is why they are sent to the Azra’il Special Deterrent Group, where their talents can be used, but where they can also be closely monitored.
This unit is responsible for the safekeeping of the Silk Route outposts. It was created after the bloody clashes of the Silk Revolts and their role is not so much to protect the most prized treasure of Haqqislam, but to annihilate anyone who dares try and seize it. They didn’t get their name by chance. In the Koran, Azra’il is the Angel of Death, a dark archangel under the direct orders of Allah, whose mission is to rip the souls from bodies and take them to be judged. This is basically the mission of the Special Group, who always acts openly and belligerently. An open operation means that the unit wants the enemy to be perfectly aware of their presence. In military terms this is known as a ‘Show of Force’ or ‘Force by Presence’. The Azra’il normally carry out aggressive patrols, seeking deliberate and provocative contact with the enemy. The choice of an older model of heavy armor is an intended and premeditated decision. Not only because it is a link with each individual Azra’il‘s past - a reminder of their fall into disgrace - but also because it is more bulky, and thus more threatening, in appearance. And if their presence alone is not sufficient to put fear into the hearts of enemies, they then unleash all the firepower at their disposal, doing justice to their name.
These guys are looking pretty awesome

Guijia Squadrons

“The Sì Líng Squads are a prestigious unit, a source of pride for their military prowess in service of the nation. The Guijia machines of the State Cavalry are the best warfare tools devised by man to this day.
In days of yore, incorporation into an elite unit was a matter of lineage or rank, but not in the reality of Yu Jing where, thanks to Imperial socialism, only the best can join the best units, regardless of their birth. An aptitude testing programme carried out in middle schools selects young people with the potential to serve the State from the higher echelons of the military.

Once vetted, they are relocated to training centers, where veteran soldiers prepare and evaluate them. After a final selection, only the most promising, regardless of their social origin, receive the reward of joining the best Yu Jing units. […] Piloting a Guijia, the most advanced light war machine, product of our superior technology, a soldier can traverse the most gruesome killzone unscathed and help Yu Jing fulfil its destiny […] Sì Líng Regiments on planet Yutang, like those mythical creatures, are spread across the four points of the compass to defend the land. The Qílín (Unicorn) Regiment is deployed in the continental West […] The Fènghuáng (Phoenix) Regiment protects the fertile South. […] The Gui-Xian (Immortal Turtle) Regiment covers the North, our cultural bastion. […] And the Lóng (Dragon) Regiment defends the industrious East and our beloved capital. […] Sì Líng Regiments were responsible for many of our glorious victories during the NeoColonial Wars […] Comrade-subject, your children might become heroes of the Yu Jing StateEmpire. Your unsung efforts are the foundation of our socialist-Imperial society…” (Excerpts from Ministry of Information propaganda broadcast.)

Dactyls, Steel Phalanx Support Corps

The Support Corps of the Assault Subsection of the SSS is composed entirely of specialists, both combat engineers and field medics. The Steel Phalanx was conceived as a purely offensive force, but the stagnation of the Paradiso conflict spread the always scarce Sophotects too thinly, forcing the SSS to create a new support unit capable of keeping up with the rest of its heroic troops.
In Greek Mythology, the supernatural beings called Dactyls (in Ancient Greek ‘Fingers’) were magical smiths and healers who discovered iron and metalworking. Their Phalanx counterparts are all master demolishers. Explosives are their forte and very few troops in the Sphere can boast their level of proficiency with D-Charges and plastic.

They have blasted bridges and facilities and mined roads on every Paradiso front. They can repair gear and treat their fallen brothers in arms, but their ability to fulfil their objective under enemy fire is not what makes them a valuable asset to the SSS. Dactyls shine in the finesse they demonstrate in the exercise of their job, be it an emergency surgery in the middle of the battlefield or a controlled demolition. Their nimble fingers make only the most precise movements and their full attention is on the desired outcome, whether an in extremis rescue from the clutches of death or an explosion to collapse the entire building.

Infinity Terrain

Jumping into this game has given me a lot to be excited about. One of the best things when I decided to jump into it and ditch 40k was that the starter set came with a bunch of buildings and crates to help me with my first games. When I got the USAriadna set I was able to get more crates and buildings. Between my buddy and I we have quite the collection now.

I started realizing pretty early on that having a smaller army with a smaller model count has really given me some extra money to spend on this game. The free rulebook and army builder are also another money saver. So two areas that I am looking at throwing that money into are; terrain and tokens.

Terrain is a very big part of Infinity and I am finding that out every time I play a game. It has really been a lot of fun and now I have been looking at all the companies that support Infinity with terrain and scenery.

One big thing I noticed is that Corvus Belli supports a lot of companies that make terrain for their game. This is definitely a plus and it has made my search for terrain very easy in one way and very hard in another. A few of those companies are: Micro Art Studios, Bandua, Warsenal and Plastcraft.

Micro Art Studio's District 5 Building, it can also separate into multiple buildings.
The biggest problem so far has been deciding on what type of terrain to get. So first up on our list is Warsenal. http://warsen.al/ The Comanche set in particular is looking very good. This set features some very affordable bundle deals and the quality is very comparable to Micro Art Studio and Bandua.

This is a picture of their starter set that retails at about $100. Not a bad deal in my opinion. There stuff is unassembled and unpainted but that isn't really an issue  for most people. I am willing to put a little time into some terrain painting. Most if not all the pieces are made of 3mm MDF and having read some product and customer reviews the assembly seems to be pretty straightforward. The Comanche set has a lot of underlying USAridana themes and there are some great combinations of other pieces that really add to the set.

I really like this set and it is in the top of my list for considerations. I am currently playing with an Ariadna force so this set of terrain makes a lot of sense. I also like the bundle packaging that is offered. Warsenal has a host of other products and for those seasoned Infinity players this is probably some very common knowledge. Just getting some ideas out there for us noobs who have become new addicts to Infinity.

The next article will feature some more terrain pieces and another manufacturer.
